In a recent trial two and a half day trial in Judge Anderle's department, our firm achieved a significant victory for our client in a child custody and child support dispute. The court denied the father's request for joint physical custody, awarding our client a 74% time share with the child preserving the existing custody arrangement that was in the best interest of the child. The other party was requesting a 50-50 arrangement.
The case involved a nearly two-year-old child who w had a strong bond with the mother, who had been the primary caregiver since birth. The father, on the other hand, had a history of being uncooperative and dismissive of the mother's concerns.
Our attorneys successfully argued that disrupting the child's established routine and care patterns would be detrimental to their well-being. We also highlighted the father's lack of involvement in the child's life and his unwillingness to compromise on custody arrangements.
The court's decision is a testament to the importance of prioritizing the child's best interests in custody cases. It also underscores the need for parents to work together to create a stable and nurturing environment for their children, even after separation.
The other parent's counsel, Guneet Kaur, also argued that Mother should pay Father child support. Our client, Mother, prevailed and secured child support of $1,000 per month. Father was also ordered to pay $10,000 in attorney fees to Mother and an additional $4,500 to Mother for a jointly owned vehicle that Father claimed was solely his, but the court found the vehicle was gifted to Mother.
After winning every issue in the case, our client, the Mother, was very pleased with the result. This case underscores the need for effective representation and effective trial presentation, as the other attorney was not well prepared which seemed to negatively affect Father's outcome.
